The Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has sanctioned two individuals and five entities associated with Intellexa, a spyware development company, that produced commercial software to target U.S. government officials, journalists, and policy experts.
The Intellexa Consortium has involved in producing a suite of tools under the brand-name “Predator” spyware.
When a device is infected with Predator spyware, it can be used for a variety of data-stealing and surveillance functions, including data collection, geolocation tracking, access to various applications, and personal information gathering.
