The UK has expanded its sanctions list, adding those involved in the use of chemical weapons to it.
These individuals and entities have been added to the sanctions list:
- Lieutenant General Igor Anatolyevich Kirillov. In April 2017, he was appointed Head of the Radiological Chemical and Biological Defence Troops of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation.
- Radiological Chemical and Biological Defence Troops of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation. These troops have been involved in the transfer and use of chemical weapons in Ukraine, the UK government stated.
- 27th Central Research Institute of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation. Its framework includes several research centers and departments engaged in research on various aspects of control systems, the information infrastructure of the Armed Forces of the Russian federation, signal communication systems, as well as topographic and navigational support.
- Russian Ministry of Defence 33rd Central Scientific Research and Testing Institute. It is a leading research organization in the field of radiation, chemical and biological protection. The Institute has a testing base that has no analogues in Russia, which allows testing new types of weapons and defense systems.
