The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has imposed sanctions on three entities and one individual for their involvement in the development and production of Russia’s Garpiya long-range unmanned aerial vehicle series (UAV).
According to OFAC’s statement, the Garpiya was produced at PRC factories in collaboration with Russian defense companies controlled by Joint Stock Company Izhevsk Electromechanical Plant Kupol (AO IEMZ Kupol), a subsidiary of JSC Aerospace Defense Concern Almaz-Antey, which is a US-designated Russian state-owned weapons manufacturer. OFAC has also imposed sanctions on TSK Vector OOO, which serves as an intermediary between AO IEMZ and the Chinese suppliers for the Garpi project, and its owner, Artem Mikhailovich Yamshchikov.
PRC-located companies Xiamen Limbach Aircraft Engine Co. Ltd. and Redlepus Vector Industry Shenzhen Co. Ltd have also been added to the sanctions list.
Probably, the Garpiya is one of Russia’s most secret military UAVs. There are no images of this drone on Russian military sources, it is only known that Russia uses Garpiya’s drones against Ukraine.
