Australia has imposed sanctions against an organization that is virtual.
The country imposed sanctions on Terrorgram, which is an online network that promotes white supremacy and racially motivated violence.
In 2022, ITSTIME, an Italian group of the Research center of the Department of Sociology at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan, published material about attacks that were committed by supporters of Terrorgam. These attacks occurred in the United States and Russia. Sanctions imposed by Australia make it a criminal offense to support Terrorgam, and these sanctions can result in up to 10 years imprisonment and/or large fines.
Next to Terrorgram, four organizations promoting nationalist and racist ideologies of violent extremism were sanctioned by Australia: the National Socialist Order (USA), the Russian Imperial Movement (Russia), Sonnenkrieg Division and The Base..
Of these organizations, the Russian Imperial Movement, based in St. Petersburg has a combat unit called the Imperial Legion which recruits those who want to fight against Ukraine.
The Australian government has also imposed sanctions on Naim Qassam, the new secretary general of Hezbollah.
