The Ministry of the Interior and Administration of the Republic of Poland has included the fifth organization which exports carbamide (a fertilizer containing nitrogen) on its sanctions list.
Sanctions were imposed on a company from Minsk called MetaTradingProm LLC (ООО “МетаТрэйдингПром”).
According to the ministry, this company started its activities in April 2019. Four months later, it launched the production of granulated carbamide and began exporting it to Poland. It also has its own production facilities in Grodno, but an inspection by the Polish authorities revealed that there is no such a plant at the address associated with MetaTradingProm LLC. Instead, they found a plant connected to the Belarusian enterprise Grodno Azot, which is under EU sanctions because of its association with President Alexander Lukashenko’s regime.
Inclusion in the Polish sanctions list means that the following restrictive measures are applied to a person or organization: 1) freezing of all financial and economic resources; 2) prohibition on providing any financial or economic resources to persons / organizations included in the list, or on their behalf – directly or indirectly; 3) prohibition of conscious and deliberate participation in activities whose purpose or result is to circumvent measures specified in a and b; 4) exclusion from public procurement procedures or competition; 5) entry into the register of foreign nationals whose stay on the territory of Poland is considered undesirable (for foreigners).
