The United Kingdom government has excluded Russian Rosbank and the Turkish company Active Denizcilik ve Gemi Isletmec Anonim Sirketi from the sanctions list. This was reported by the Office for the Implementation of Financial Sanctions (OFSI) under the Ministry of Finance.
In 2023, the UK imposed sanctions on Rosbank because it supported the Russian government’s actions in a sector that is strategically important to the government, namely, the financial services sector of Russia.
Since August 2024, Rosbank has been owned by Interros, a Russian financial group, through its subsidiary T-Technology. The owner of Interos is Russian billionaire Vladimir Potanin.
