A Finnish company sent dozens of trucks to Russia in violation of sanctions

Finnish customs suspects that a Finnish company exported a significant number of trucks and trailers from Finland to Russia in 2022 and 2023, despite the fact that the EU has banned the export of trucks and trailers to Russia since April 13, 2022.

According to preliminary data, the Finnish company has cleared 135 trucks and 29 trailers from Finland to Russia for export. The heavy equipment was primarily exported through the Nuijamaa customs checkpoint (Brusnichnoye checkpoint on the Russian side) before the closure of Finland’s eastern border on December 15, 2023. The total value of the exported trucks and trailers is approximately 17 million euros.

“The company reported to customs that it was exporting trucks and trailers through Russia to Kazakhstan or Turkey. However, a preliminary investigation revealed that all the vehicles cleared by the company were actually located in Russia. According to the company’s trade invoices, the buyer is a Turkish company whose director and owner is a person residing in Moscow,” said Sanna Kuparinen, the head of the investigation.
