Roman Abramovich challenged the refusal to lift EU sanctions.
Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich has filed an appeal against the decision of the European Court of Justice of September 10, 2025 (case T-1105/23).
Then the European Court of Justice rejected Abramovich, who challenged the EU sanctions and assured that “the Government of the Russian Federation no longer has any influence on his assets, since in 2005 he sold his shares to Sibneft and transferred most of his funds to EU countries.”
According to Sanctions Lists, the appeal was filed on November 20, and the official journal of the European Union reported on it on January 26. The appeal also cites the following grounds: “The court failed to fulfill its obligation to state the reasons and violated the provisions concerning the procedure for presenting evidence.”
