US designates Targets Key Hamas Leaders and Financiers

On November 19th, the US Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) imposed sanctions on six senior Hamas officials for their involvement in terrorist activities in Gaza.

Among the sanctioned individuals are Ghazi Hamad, who was the editor of Hamas’ propaganda outlets and authorized to speak on behalf of the group, and Mohammad Nazal, who has supported the terrorist organization for over 30 years.

The following Hamas leaders were also designated by the US:

  • Basem Naim, a senior member of Hamas based in Gaza who participated in the organization’s interactions with Russia;
  • Abd al-Rahman Ismail, he founder of a Hamas section responsible for supporting the group’s interests in the West Bank;
  • Musa Daud Muhammad Akari, is a senior Hamas official based in Türkiye who facilitates the flow of funds from Türkiye into Gaza and the West Bank for Hamas;
  • Salama Mary, a Hamas leader based in Turkey involved in financial support for the organization.
