Russian billionaire Oleg Deripaska has filed a lawsuit with a court to protect his honour, dignity and business reputation from The Insider, a Latvian-registered media outlet.
The businessman has demanded that information published by the media be recognized as false and defamatory of his honour and business.
In particular, the billionaire demanded a refutation of the following fragment of the article: “Falcon business jets are manufactured in France. In addition to Miller, the oligarch Oleg Deripaska also favors Falcon. The aircraft attributed to him with tail number RA-09618 visited Thailand, India, Turkey, and Kazakhstan in August. Through the Kazakh company Irtysh-Air, Arsenal purchased this aircraft for $35.8 million in February 2023. Arsenal is registered as the nominal owner, but as The Insider has found out, it has a subsidiary of the Chinese company Beijing Jinsen Trading through which goods for Rusal enterprises are imported. This is another proof that Arsenal, and therefore the plane, is connected to Deripaska. In addition, there are matching schedules of movements of the oligarch’s jet and Arsenal.”

The claim is available in the database of arbitration courts in Russia.
Oleg Deripaska is the founder of the Basic Element Industrial Group. Forbes magazine estimated his fortune at $2.8 billion in 2024. Oleg Deripska is on the sanctions lists of the United States, the European Union and the United Kingdom due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
