The decision of the Tartu District Court has entered into force in Estonia, which found guilty two Russian citizens with Czech residence permits who tried to smuggle a BMW 8 series car worth more than 62,000 euros from Europe to Russia through the border crossing in Narva.
The Estonian prosecutor’s office said that they were talking about Vladimir and Igor Palamarchuk, who “used several countries, various companies, as well as real and fictitious intermediaries to carry out this scheme. They signed purchase and sale agreements using false information, prepared fictitious documents and tried to create the impression that it was a defective car worth 4,900 euros.”
The EU sanctions prohibit the supply of cars of this value to Russia.*
The prosecutor’s office did not say what exactly the Russians were sentenced to.
At the moment, unofficial deliveries of expensive BMW cars to Russia are still ongoing. SanctionsLists.org found on a Russian car sales website auto.ru There are 390 new BMW cars, the price of each of them exceeds 5 million rubles, that is, more than 50 thousand euros.
