The Estonian government agreed with the proposal of Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna to make sanctions imposed in connection with the situation in Belarus indefinite.
Tshakhkna stated that violence by Belarusian regime against population of country, its violation of human rights, and its participation in Russian aggression in Ukraine has not changed. Therefore, it is necessary to continue applying existing sanctions against Belarusian regime and related persons.
“Over almost five-year period of decree validity, situation in Belarus hasn’t changed, so continued application of ban on entry for subjects of sanctions is justified,” Tsahkna said.
There are 273 people on Estonian sanctions list against Belarus including President Alexander Lukashenko and his oldest son Viktor.
