The Council jf the European Union has decided to add the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran to the EU terrorist list. Following its listing, the IRGC will also be subject to restrictive measures under the EU counterterrorism sanctions regime. This includes the freezing of its funds and other financial assets or economic resources in EU member states.
Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the Russian military has been actively cooperating with the IRGC.
In 2023, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu personally visited Iran for an exhibition of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ aerospace forces.

During the exhibition, the Russian minister was shown the latest models of Iranian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and missile weapons used by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ aerospace forces.
It is known that the Russian military uses the Geran-2 UAV, which is actually a renamed Shahed-136 Iranian-made drone.
