EU renews sanctions on Zimbabwe

The Council of the European Union renewed its framework for restrictive measures for a further year, until 20 February 2026, in view of the situation in Zimbabwe.

The Council also delisted the Zimbabwe Defence Industries (ZDI), the last remaining entity.

ZDI is a state-owned Zimbabwean arms manufacturing company that produces small arms ammunition in calibers 7.62 x 39 and 7.6 x 51.

The EU’s embargo on weapons and equipment that could be used for internal repression remains in place. The EU continues to closely monitor developments in Zimbabwe and is particularly concerned about the human rights situation. It recalls its willingness to adjust its policies accordingly.
