Japan has expanded the export list of arms manufacturers

Japan has expanded the list of companies from countries where “concerns about the development of weapons of mass destruction persist”

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI) has added 87 organizations to its “List of Foreign Users.” The ministry said in a statement that this was done “in order to increase the effectiveness of comprehensive control over goods related to weapons of mass destruction.” The updated list, which includes 835 organizations from 15 countries, will enter into force on October 9, 2025.

“If a user of exported goods is included in this list, exporters are required to apply for an export license, except in cases where it is clear that the goods will not be used to develop weapons of mass destruction or conventional weapons,” the ministry said.

Russia appears in the updated list more than 100 times.
