Poland sanctions the leader of the building materials industry in Belarus

The Ministry of the Interior and Administration of the Republic of Poland added the Belarusian “Management Company of the Belarusian Cement Company” (“BCC”) to its sanctions list.

“In April 2023, BCC exported a record 2.3 times more cement to Russia than in April 2022. It follows from the above that the BCC Management Company is the entity whose funds … They indirectly support serious human rights violations or repression against civil society and the democratic opposition, or whose activities pose another serious threat to democracy or the rule of law in Belarus, as well as actions that destabilize or undermine the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. Moreover, cooperation with the Russian Federation supports its economic potential, which is extremely important in the context of the ongoing war waged by Russia,” the Polish Interior Ministry said.

BCC is a holding company that is a leader in the production of building materials in Belarus. It has more than 20 branches and employs more than 8.5 thousand people. The holding’s foundation consists of three companies: JSC Belorussky Cement Plant, JSC Krichevcementnoshifter (both located near the border with Russia) and JSC Krasnoselskstroymaterials (near the border of Poland).

The cement plants of the BСС Holding produce more than 5 million tons of cement annually.
