The Council of the European Union imposed sanctions on 26 individuals and 2 entities from Belarus.
The Council stated that restrictive measures were imposed on various members of the judiciary, namely judges who issued politically motivated sentences, including against citizens who voiced their opinions against the Lukashenka regime and the brutal law enforcement system in Belarus.
These sanctions are also imposed on heads and deputy heads of correctional institutions (prisons and pre-trial detentions centres), as well as two companies that benefit from the regime: Vlate Logistic LLC and Ruzekspedity LLC.
Vlate Logistics LLC is a Belarusian transportation and storage company that owns two border checkpoints at the EU-Belarus border.
Ruzekspeditsiya LLC is a Belarusian company that facilitates the circumvention of EU sanctions by participating in the delivery of cars that are prohibited for sale or export from the EU to Belarus.
