The UK government has announced new sanctions against Iran’s regime for supporting Russia and transferring ballistic missiles to the Russian army.
New sanctions have been imposed on the Iranian state-owned shipping company, the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL), and the Russian cargo ship PORT OLYA-3 (IMO 9481910).
“Alongside our international partners, we were clear that any transfer of ballistic missiles from Iran to Russia would face a significant response,” said Foreign Secretary David Lammy.
By this time, the UK had sanctioned more than 450 individuals and entities in Iran, and 2,100 under the Russia sanctions regime. According to the British authorities, Port Olya-3 was built in 2011 and operated by United Cargo Fleet.
