The Russian fishing holding company Norebo responded to the EU sanctions.
May 20th, the European Union imposed sanctions on several individuals and entities, including Norebo, as part of the 17-package of sanctions against Russia.
Norebo was included in the 17-pack of sanctions for being part of a surveillance campaign that conducted espionage missions and sabotage on critical infrastructure, including underwater cables.
Norebo has published its response to the sanctions in English only, not in Russian.
“The management of Norebo took notice of EU Council’s decision to impose sanctions. It is the management’s concern to stress out, for the umpteenth time, that the accusations brought are false. There is no evidence that can be delivered by the EU Authorities to ever substantiate their incorrect claims. It is therefore sad to see what ought to be the rule of law and fact degrade into mere biased politics. Norebo has at all times acted according to the laws of the countries and waters it operated in; including the ones of the EU. Further, the company has always acted in an environmentally responsible and ecological manner. Norebo is entirely non-political and has only been delivering healthy and high-quality seafood for human consumption. It is disappointing to see such decisions being done against those who support and uphold European standards,” the holding company said.
Norebo was founded by Russian businessman Vitaly Orlov in 1997 and Norwegian entrepreneur Magnus Roth. According to the accounting statements of JSC Norebo Holding for 2024, Vitaly Orlov is the beneficial owner.
Today, the Norebo holding includes fishing, trading and logistics companies, fish processing plants, a fish cannery complex and a shipbuilding plant.
