The EU Court decided to lift sanctions against the family of Russian businessman Pumpyanskiy

The European Court of Justice has decided to lift sanctions against Dmitry Pumpyanskiy and his family, including his wife, Galina, and son, Dmitry.

He has held senior positions in major Russian metallurgical companies, including the former Chairman of TMK* and the former President of Sinara Group**, and has benefited from collaboration with the Russian authorities, including Russian Railways and Gazprom. As such, he supports economic sectors that contribute to the government’s income, which has been responsible for annexing Crimea and destabilizing Ukraine.

The court’s materials state that the Council of the European Union has not provided any evidence in the present case capable of demonstrating that the applicant retained any influence over TMK and Sinara.
