The President of the United States, Donald Trump, will extend the emergency regime for one year, providing a number of sanctions against Russia.
The notice signed by President Trump on the extension of sanctions was published in the Federal Register of the US government.
The emergency order in connection with Russia’s actions in Ukraine was introduced by President Obama in 2014, when Presidential Executive Order 13661 was issued, freezing the property of a number of people involved in the situation in Ukraine.
Later, after Obama, the list of sanctions under this regime has been expanded several times.
“The actions and policies addressed in these Executive Orders continue to pose an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States,” the notice states.
