The UK has imposed sanctions on Russia, blocking suppliers of components for missiles

On September 12th, UK imposed new sanctions on Russian entities and individuals who support the Russian military.

China-based Shenzhen Blue Hat International Trade Co., Ltd., and its two Russian co-owners, Elena Malitckaia and Alexey Malitskiy, and Turkey-based Mastel Makina Ithalat Ihracat Limited Sirketi and its CEO, Azerbaijani national Shanlik Shukurov.

The electronics supplied by these companies are used in Russian missiles such as Iskander and X-101, as well as UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles).

The Iskander missile system is an operational-tactical missile with a range of up to 500 kilometers.

The X-101 cruise missile has low visibility for radars and is equipped with heat traps, which allow it to overcome air defense systems.

Among the companies added to the sanctions list are: JSC Plant Mezon, the oldest manufacturer of tantalum capacitors in Russia, JSC NPP Zvukotekhnika, and JSC Plant Recond, which produces ceramic and tantalum condensers, for which it is a sole supplier in Russia.

“The security of NATO and Ukraine are crucial to the UK’s security – an integral part of the Prime Minister’s Plan for Change.  The UK blocked suppliers of components for Russian missiles,” said Foreign Secretary, Yvette Cooper.
