UK imposes sanctions on Russian propagandists, Dugin and Zvinchuk

The British government has sanctioned Aleksandr Dugin, a political scientist, and Mikhail Zvinchuk, a military blogger and the author of the Rybar Telegram channel.

In addition to these individuals, the UK has also added media and companies associated with them to its sanctions list: the International Non-Profit Foundation Center for Geopolitical Expertise, EUROMORE, the Foundation for the Support and Protection of Rights of Compatriots Abroad, the GOLOS project, and Rybar LLC.

Aleksandr Dugin is the ideologue of neo-Eurasianism, which holds that Russia is a unique civilization located between Europe and Asia, and he has repeatedly expressed support for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, arguing that it is in Russia’s interest to establish order and that Ukraine should become part of Russia.

Dugin’s daughter, Daria, who shared his father’s political views, died in a car explosion on August 20, 2022. According to one version, Dugin himself was supposed to be driving in this car.

Mikhail Zvinchuk, the author of the Rybar project, is called by the Russian media. The Rybar itself claims to be a military analytical centre. The Rybar project has more than 1.4 million subscribers on Telegram. On June 23rd, 2019, Zvinchuck was added to the sanctions lists of all EU countries for supporting actions which undermine and threaten Ukraine’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence.
