UK imposes the largest package of sanctions against Russia since 2022

The UK has announced the largest package of sanctions against Russia since 2022.

A total of 107 positions have been added to the UK’s sanctions list. According to the government, the measures are aimed at reducing funds going to the military treasury and supporting Russia’s kleptocratic system.

“We are sanctioning 14 ‘New Kleptocrats’, some of whom are fronting up strategic sectors of Russia’s economy.  Among them are Roman Trotsenko, one of the wealthiest men in Russia, worth £2.2 billion,” the British government said.

40 oil tankers of Russia’s “shadow fleet”, companies from Russia and other countries were sanctioned. For example, Keremet Bank from Kyrgyzstan was sanctioned.

Among the persons sanctioned are businessmen Gleb Trotsenko, CEO of Tsargrad TV channel Natalia Tyurina, Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation Denis Popov, North Korean Defense Minister No Gwang Chol, founder of S7 aviation group Vladislav Filev.
