The UK lifted sanctions against a businessman linked to Russia
The British Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation has excluded Swiss citizen Francois Edouard Mauron from the “Russian” part of the sanctions list.
He has been under sanctions since 2023, the official justification was as follows: “Mauron is involved in obtaining a benefit from or supporting the Government of Russia by working as a director or equivalent of an entity that is carrying on business in a sector of strategic significance to the Government of Russia, namely the Russian energy sector.”
According to the Financial Times, Francois Mauron could be involved in the Paramount DMCC company in Dubai. In order to comply with EU sanctions, Paramount Energy & Commodities SA, a company controlled by Swiss businessmen, which was a leading oil trader from the Russian Far East, transferred its business to this structure.
