UK lifted sanctions against Russian banker Panferov

The UK has lifted sanctions against Alexey Panferov, former deputy chairman of the board of the Russian bank Sovcombank. The relevant decision was published by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.

Panferov started his career at Zenit Bank. In 2006, he founded New Russia Growth, a company that managed Volga River investment funds totaling $370 million. Since 2015, he has been a member of the Supervisory Board of Sovcombank PJSC. Since August 2017, he has been Deputy Chairman of the Management Board and Head of the department for work with government organizations and major corporate clients.

The UK imposed sanctions against the Russian Sovcombank in 2022. This decision was justified by the fact that the bank is of strategic importance to Russia, benefits from and supports the Russian government.
