The United States has lifted sanctions against Nikolay Bortsov, a former Russian State Duma deputy.
The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Treasury has officially announced the delisting of Nikolay Bortsov from the sanctions list.
Bortsov died suddenly on April 23, 2023. In 2024, the European Union lifted sanctions against him and then the United Kingdom.
Bortsov was a co-owner of Lebedyansky, a Russian juice producer, and in 2008 he sold 75.53% of his stake in the company to PepsiCo. In 2019, Forbes estimated his fortune to be $550 million, ranking him as the 194th richest Russian.
On February 23rd, 2022 Nikolay Bortsov was added to EU sanctions lists for “supporting and pursuing actions and policies” that undermined Ukraine’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence. Later, the US and UK also added him to their own sanctions lists.
