US sanctions the Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generacion for fentanyl trafficking

The US has sanctioned the Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generacion for fentanyl trafficking.

The Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has announced sanctions against three Mexican nationals and two Mexican-based entities linked to the Cartel. This cartel is an FTO (Foreign Terrorist Organization) and SDGT (Specially Designated Global Terrorist) designated by the US. It is also a violent drug trafficking organization based in Mexico.

CJNG is notorious for its involvement in fentanyl and other deadly drugs supplied to the US, as well as crude oil smuggling. “Fuel theft and crude oil smugglings are cash cows for the CJNG’s narco-terrorist enterprise, said Secretary of Treasury Scott Bessent, “providing a lucrative revenue stream for the group and enabling them to wreak havoc in Mexico and the US.

OFAC has sanctioned three leaders of the CJNG: Cesar Morfin (a.k.a. Primito), the cell leader of Tamaulipas in Mexico, Alvaro Noe, his older brother, also involved in drug trafficking, and Remigio, Primito’s younger brother.
