The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has signed two decrees to expand the sanctions list.
Decree 778/2024 affects three companies registered in the United States and Cayman Islands, as well as 28 individuals likely to be involved with Russian special services, and imposes sanctions for a period of 10 years.
Decree No. 779/2019 imposes only sanctions against individuals, dividing them into two groups: those whose sanctions will last 10 year and those whose sanctions have been imposed indefinitely, including such prominent figures as Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill, Speaker of the Federation Council of Russia, Valentina Matvienko, singers Philip Kirkorov, and Nikolai Baskov
In addition, the list includes the famous Ukrainian football player, Anatoli Tymoshchuk, who played for the national team of Ukraine and the former football club Bayern Munich in Germany. Anatoli Tymoshchuk also played for Zenit St Petersburg and now works as an assistant coach at that club.
