The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has signed several new decrees imposing sanctions on Russian entities and individuals.
One of these decrees is Decree No. 230/2025, which imposes economic sanctions on Russian media companies, including Joint Stock Company News Media. Sanctions were imposed on News Media Holding, headquartered in Moscow and including publications such as Life, Mash, SHOT, and Super, which actively share news on social media platforms like Telegram. According to company data, the average number of monthly views of their materials is 2.4 billion and they have 34 million subscribers.
In addition, Zelenskyy has imposed sanctions on Readovka.ru Limited Liability Company, whose main platform is Telegram channel of the same name, founded in 2018, which exceeded the million mark in subscribers in April 2022.
The Limited Liability Company “Eurasia Daily”, which is also on the sanctions list of Ukraine, owns the publication “EADaily”. On February 24, 2015, the European Union added it to the list of media outlets under the constant control of the Russian government.
Among the sanctioned companies are those dealing with media at a regional level. Sanctions have been imposed on the Joint-Stock Company “Information and Publishing Center of the Government of Saint Petersburg “Petrocentr”, which publishes the newspaper “Petersburgski Dnevnik”. The company is headed by the Special Representative of the Governor of St.Petersburg, Kirill Smirnov.
