Zelenskyy imposes sanctions on the President of Belarus

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed Decree No. 125/2026 on imposing sanctions on the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko.

“More than 3,000 Belarusian enterprises have been put at the service of the Russian war and are supplying equipment, machinery, and components that are classified as critical. These include components for the production of missiles that are terrorizing our cities and villages. The development of infrastructure for the deployment of medium-range missiles, known as ‘oreshnik’, in Belarus is also ongoing, which poses an obvious threat not only to Ukrainians but also to all Europeans,” Zelenskyy said.

According to him, Alexander Lukashenko has been trading Belarus’s sovereignty for continued personal power, helping the Russians to circumvent sanctions… and now he is increasing his involvement in the escalation and prolongation of the war. There will be special consequences for this.”

Zelenskyy’s Decree No. 125/2026 on imposing sanctions on the President of Belarus contains 17 points.

In addition to the usual provisions on blocking assets, there are the following:

10. Prohibition or restriction of foreign non-military vessels and warships entering Ukraine’s territorial sea, inland waters, ports, and aircraft entering Ukraine’s airspace or landing on Ukrainian territory (full prohibition);
11. Full or partial prohibition of transactions involving securities issued by individuals subject to sanctions under this law;
13. Termination of trade agreements, joint projects, and industrial programs in certain areas, particularly in the fields of security and defense;
14. Prohibition of the transfer of technologies and intellectual property rights;
15. Cessation of cultural exchanges, scientific cooperation, educational and sports contacts, and entertainment programs with foreign countries and foreign legal entities.
