The government of Belarus has expanded the list of prohibited imports from “unfriendly countries,” adding pasta, margarine, and other goods to the list.
The list also includes cement, products made from cement, nitrogen fertilizers, plastic tableware, chipboard, MDF, boxes, paper and cardboard packaging, building bricks, and other products.
The ban will come into effect on August 31, 2024.
According to the government, non-CIS goods worth $8.76 billion were imported into Belarus in the first half of 2023.
“Unfriendly” countries include the Australian Union, the European Union, Canada, Liechtenstein, Norway, New Zealand, Albania, Iceland, North Macedonia, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the United States of America, Montenegro, Switzerland.
