The State Agency for National Security (SANS), a specialized body under the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria, has informed Russian businessman Anton Zingarevich of a 10-year ban on entry into the country.
The businessman owns a Bulgarian football club, Botev. The football club has published a letter from DANS to Anton Zingarevich, but the exact reasons for the entry ban remain unclear.
“I do not understand and cannot agree with the methods by which unknown persons apparently want to remove me from my permanent investment intentions,” Anton Zingarvichev told his fans.
Anton Zingarevich is a son of businessman Boris Zingarevich, who is a member of the board of directors of JSC Ilim Group. Previously, Anton Zinarevic was the owner of Reading Football Club, who play in League One of the English football league. On 2 June 2014, Reading announced that Anton Zingarevich had left the board of the club.
In 2022, Anton Zingarevich and his parents were added to the sanctions list of Ukraine for “close ties with the Russian regime”.
Anton Zingarevic’s father Boris Zingarevich, together with his twin brother Mikhail, and a classmate Zakhar Smushkin founded the Ilim Group in 1992. Dmitry Medvedev, the future president of Russia, worked at this company from 1993 to 1998.
