China sanctions US and Canadian defense companies

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China has announced sanctions against seven companies.

According to the ministry’s statement, these sanctions were imposed after the United States announced a new package of support for Taiwan, which includes the provision of weapons.

These companies have been added to the PRC’s sanction list:

  • Insitu, Inc. Insitu Inc. is an American company that designs, develops and manufactures unmanned aerial systems (UAS). The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company and are headquartered in Bingen, Washington with offices in Oregon, Australia and the United Kingdom.
  • Hudson Technologies Co.
  • Saronic Technologies, Inc.  Saronic is building cutting-edge unmanned surface vehicles that enable maritime security and domain awareness.
  • Raytheon Canada. Raytheon Canada produces advanced technologies and defence and aerospace systems in Canada for more than 65 years.
  • Raytheon Australia.
  • Aerkomm Inc. This company provides carrier-neutral and software-defined infrastructure for multi-orbit, end-to-end satellite broadband connectivity.
  • Oceaneering International, Inc. The company provides engineered services and products to the oil and gas, defense, entertainment, logistics, aerospace.
