The Russian IT company Softline announced in a customer support chat that Microsoft had begun to disconnect Russian businesses from its cloud service.
“We have started receiving information about the start of the shutdown of cloud services,” the company said. “According to information, currently, the subscription status has been changed to disabled for several of our customers in the administration console.” The restrictions affect M365, O365 and EMS. The Teams service is unavailable to users, Softline reported.
In March, Russian media reported that Microsoft warned Russian organizations about the possibility of disconnecting them from cloud services due to EU sanctions.
Softline clarified that subscriptions were being disabled in Microsoft’s 365 administration center. At the same time, the company stated that it had no data on possible blocking of Russian users by Microsoft based on their Russian IP addresses.
“I don’t think this will be implemented, because there are foreign companies that continue to operate on the territory of the Russian Federation. The statement says that the restrictions apply only to legal entities registered on the territory,” Softline said in the user support chat.
