The Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has imposed sanctions on 16 Venezuelan government officials for their support of Nicolas Maduro. These individuals were involved in violating the electoral process and attempting to influence the outcome of elections.
“The Biden-Harris Administration will continue to use our tools to hold Maduro and his cronies accountable and support the democratic aspirations of the Venezuelan people,” said Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo.
These Venezuelan Officials have been added to the sanctions list:
- Inocencio Antonio Figueroa Arizaleta is a judge serving in the Maduro-aligned TSJ.
- Malaquias Gil Rodriguez is a judge serving as the president of TSJ’s Political-Administrative chamber since 2022. He has obstructed democracy by disqualifying Machado’s presidential candidacy.
- Juan Carlos Hidalgo Pandares is a judge serving as a vice president on the TSJ’s Political-Administrative chamber since 2022.
- Caryslia Beatriz Rodriguez Rodriguez heads the Maduro-aligned TSJ.
- Fanny Beatriz Marquez Cordero is the vice president of the TSJ and member of the Electoral Chamber. Several news outlets stated Marquez was among the officials from the Electoral Chamber who certified Maduro’s baseless claim to victory.
- Edward Miguel Briceno Cisneros is the special judge of the Maduro-aligned First Court of the First Instance with jurisdiction over terrorism.
- Luis Ernesto Duenez Reyes is a prosecutor in the Maduro-aligned Public Prosecutor’s office.
- Rosalba Gil Pacheco is a CNE rector serving since 2023 as president of the Maduro-aligned CNE’s Civil and Electoral Registry Commission.
- Antonio Jose Meneses Rodriguez is the CNE Secretary General serving since August 2023.
- Dinorah Yoselin Bustamante Puerta is a prosecutor serving at the Venezuelan First Special Court of First Instance.
- Pedro Jose Infante Aparicio serves as the first vice president of the Maduro-aligned National Assembly.
- Domingo Antonio Hernandez Larez is the Strategic Operational Commander of the Maduro-aligned Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), serving since July 2021.
- Elio Ramon Estrada Paredes is the Commander of the Maduro-aligned Bolivarian National Guard (GNB).
- Johan Alexander Hernandez Larez is Commander of REDI Capital of the GNB.
- Asdrubal Jose Brito Hernandez is the Director of Criminal Investigations of the DGCIM.
- Miguel Antonio Munoz Palacios is the Deputy Director of the Maduro-aligned intelligence service Servicio Bolivariano de Inteligencia since 2021.
