Poland has imposed sanctions against a Cypriot company after finding an ex-official from Belarus among its leaders.
The Ministry of the Interior and Administration of the Republic of Poland announced that Rostumel Holdings Limited, a company registered in Cyprus on December 3, 2018, has been added to the sanctions list.
According to the Cyprus Register of Legal Entities, Alexander Akrivov is the director of the company and Andrey Sviridov is its financial director. The Ministry of the Interior and Administration of the Republic of Poland assumes that Andrey Svirydov is a former official from Belarus who served as deputy managing director of the president of Belarus until February 2021.
According to publicly available information on the website dnb.com, Rostumel’s main activity is real estate brokerage and management.
However, in 2023, the company changed its main activity type and began supplying urea and ammonium nitrate to Poland. The Polish Interior Ministry considers that the company is supplying products from the Belarusian manufacturer of nitrogen fertilizer Grodno Azot, which are under EU sanctions, to the country.
The introduction of sanctions against this company will help reduce Belarus’ economic resources, which support aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine, says the justification for sanctions against Rostumel Holding Limited.
