The EU bans officials from Russia, Iran and the DPRK for torture and violence

The Council of the European Union has imposed sanctions on four individuals and two entities for serious human rights abuses worldwide, including torture and systematic and widespread sexual and gender-based violence.

Among sanctioned individuals are Evgeniy Sobolev, the head of the so-called “penitentiary service” in the occupied Kherson oblast, Ukraine; Abdel Karim Mohammed Ibrahim,chief of staff of Syrian army; Ali Mahmoud Abbas, ex-Minister of Defense of Syria; Ri Chang-dae, Minister of State Security of DPRK.

The EU also banned activities of Detention Center in Ansong district, DPRK and Haitian gang Kokorat San.
