The EU prolongs sanctions on Iran for supporting Russia

The Council of the European Union has announced the extension of restrictive measures on Iran until July 27, 2025.

The measures were applied to Iran’s military support for the war of aggression by Russia against Ukraine, as well as armed groups and entities in the Middle East and the Red Sea region.

Currently, the sanctions regime applies to 12 people and nine organizations. Among them, there is the Minister of Defense of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad-Reza Gharaei-Ashtiani, and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy, which are involved in the supply of Iranian drones and missiles to armed groups such as the Houthis and Hezbollah in the Middle Eastern and Red Sea regions.

Additionally, the EU prohibited the export of additional components used in the production and development of drones from the EU to Iran.
