The Russian state-owned television channel starts to show advertisements for clothing from North Korea

The Russian state television company GTRK Sakha broadcast an advertisement for clothing produced by the DPRK. This clothing is available for purchase in one of the stores in the city of Neryungri, in Yakutia.

In 2017, the United Nations Security Council adopted a resolution banning the import of textile products from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea as a response to the country’s testing of a hydrogen bomb.

In 2022, representatives of Russia’s embassy in Pyongyang, North Korea, told the Russian news agency RIA Novosti that Russia was interested in importing clothing and shoes from North Korean manufacturers, but that cooperation between the two countries should take into account the resolutions of the UN Security Council.

GTRK Sakha is a branch of VGTRK, Russia’s largest media corporation. All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (VGTRK), was established by Decree of the Presidium of Supreme Soviet of Russian Federation dated 14 July 1990.
