UK hits the secret Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Quds Force Unit 700

The UK has imposed sanctions on the secret Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Quds Force (IRGC-QF) Unit 700.

Unit 700 was first reported by the Israeli TV channel Kan in 2023. The TV channel revealed Unit 700 is headed by Gal Farsat,a former employee of Al-Quds, a military special forces unit of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps with extensive ties to senior officials in Iran, Syria and Lebanon.

It was reported that Unit 700 is responsible for smuggling supplies and logistics for the Al-Quds forces. In particular, it was responsible for the transfer of military equipment to pro-Iranian militias, in particular in Syria and Lebanon.

The sanctions also include three individuals associated with Iran. The sanctions list includes Abdolfatah Ahvazi, who “plans or carries out activities aimed at destroying the United Kingdom”, Behnam Shahriar, who assists in planning or implementing activities aimed at destabilising the situation in Israel, Iraq, Yemen, and Lebanon, and Dr. Hamid Fazeli, providing support or assistance to armed groups that threaten, plan, or carry out activities aimed to destabilise Israel.
