Australia imposes the largest sanctions package on Russia

Australia has imposed the largest sanctions package on Russia. Anthony Albanese, Prime Minister of Australia, and Richard Marles, Minister for Defense, have jointly stated that the new sanctions will target 70 individuals and 79 entities.

These individuals are propping up Russia’s illegal administration in eastern Ukraine and Crimea and are involved in deepening military cooperation between Russia and North Korea.

In particular, the following individuals and entities have been targeted with sanctions:

  • Andrey Yarin, Head of the Office of the President of Russia for Internal Policy; Vladimir Medinsky, Assistant to the President of Russia; Anna Tsivileva, Pavel Fradkov, Evgeny Grabchak, Deputy Ministers; Pavel Marinichev, CEO of ALROSA; Aimani Kadyrova, mother of the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov;
Pavel Mikhailovich Fradkov, the son of a former Russian prime minister and currently serving as Deputy Minister of Defence / mil.ru

  • Organisations involved in Russian propaganda: ANO Dialog, All-Russian public organisation Tsargrad, Agency for social design, ANO TV Novosti, and Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
  • Government agencies: the Russian Guard and Rossotrudnichestvo.
