The European Union imposes sanctions against Iranian prison officials.
The Council of the European Union decided to impose additional sanctions on seven individuals and two organizations responsible for severe human rights abuses in Iran.
Sanctions have been imposed on The Shiraz Central Prison, which is located in Fars Province, and the First Branch of the Revolutionary Court in Shiraz. In addition to this, the EU has imposed restrictive measures on members of the judiciary, including Hedayatollah Farzadi, head of Evin prison, and Mehdi Nemati, head of the Fars Prisons Protection and Intelligence Department.
There are currently 232 people and 44 organizations under EU sanctions in Iran, with sanctions including asset freezes, travel restrictions to the EU, and bans on providing funds and economic resources.
