Three people suspected of violating sanctions against Russia were detained in Poland

Three people suspected of violating sanctions against Russia were detained in Poland.

The Polish Ministry of Finance announced the detention of these individuals, who are suspected of importing timber from Belarus and Russia in violation of EU sanctions.

Law enforcement officials discovered that one of the companies in Poland imported Belarusian birch plywood via companies from Kazakhstan, which is a violation of the sanctions imposed on both Belarus and Russia. As a result of the investigation, three individuals were arrested, and documents, electronic devices, and plywood stored in warehouses were confiscated.

Upon the prosecutor’s request, the court selected a preventive measure for the suspects in the form of detention for three months. The suspects face up to three years in prison or a fine as punishment.
