Russian regions prepare their own sanctions against Chinese companies

Yuri Slyusar, acting governor of the Rostov Region, ordered the development of restrictive measures for Chinese manufacturers. With the help of these sanctions, he wants to protect several plants in the region, including the Novocherkassk Electrode Plant, one of the largest producers of graphite electrodes in Russia and Eastern Europe, whose main clients are steel manufacturers from Russia, as well as companies from the Middle East, North America, South America and Asia.

“In the current conditions, it is becoming increasingly difficult for the plant to compete with China, which supplies its products at virtually dumping prices. I asked my colleagues to work out an issue of introducing restrictive anti-dumping measures against Chinese manufacturers. We must not let our factories lose the market,” Yuri Slyusar said.

The Rostov Region is a constituent entity of the Russian Federation located in the south of European Russia. More than four million people live in this region.
