Germany stops the supply of luxury cars to Russia

With the help of court decisions, Germany has stopped the supply of vehicles worth more than 50,000 euros (imported cars of this value are prohibited by sanctions from the European Union).

On July 8th, 2025, a court in Germany sentenced a 56-year-old man to five years’ imprisonment for smuggling 71 luxury vehicles into Russia.

His assets worth approximately five million euros have been confiscated. It is known that the defendant ran a car dealership and was suspected of transporting large shipments of luxury vehicles worth over five million euros under the guise of legitimate exports to third countries.

“Of particular importance in this regard is the important decision to confiscate the assets of the accused, equivalent to the value of illegally exported vehicles, which amounts to about five million euros,” said Tino Igelmann, Head of the Customs Criminal Investigation Office.
