The United States, Great Britain and Australia have imposed sanctions against Russian providers.
The countries have sanctioned St. Petersburg-based Media Land LLC (Tax ID No. 2536288610, Russia) and ML Cloud LLC (Tax ID No. 7810938831, Russia), as well as individuals associated with them.
“These so-called bulletproof hosting service providers like Media Land provide cybercriminals essential services to aid them in attacking businesses in the United States and in allied countries,” said Under Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence John K. Hurley.
According to the US Department of the Treasury, Media Land provided services to criminal trading platforms and hackers involved in ransomware, including well-known ransomware Trojans such as Lockbit, BlackSuit, and Play. The infrastructure of Media Land has also been used in numerous DDoS attacks on companies and critical infrastructure in the United States.
US authorities consider ML Cloud to be a subsidiary of Media Land, whose technical infrastructure is often used in conjunction with Media Land, including for attacks using ransomware and DDOS attacks.
Alexander Volosovik, CEO of Media Land, Kirill Zatolokin, an employee of his company who is responsible for collecting payments from clients, and Yulia Pankova, who helped Volosovik with legal matters and managed his finances, were sanctioned.
