Swedish police: companies circumventing sanctions ban on supplies to Russia

The Swedish police say there is likely extensive indirect export of products from Sweden to Russia in violation of EU trade sanctions.

The Swedish Trade Council analyzed data from February 2022 to September 2024 and concluded that exports of goods to countries located near Russia have increased significantly.

“At the same time, the Swedish police and customs receive very few reports of sanctions violations,” said Johan Grenfors, head of the national operations department of the police (NOA), and chairman of the Sanctions Cooperation Council.

According to the Swedish police, there are currently several preliminary investigations into violations of sanctions.

The Sanctions Cooperation Council in the field of sanctions has even prepared a report on circumventing sanctions, which includes an infographic showing the growth of exports to neighboring countries of Russia.
