The United States has imposed new sanctions on Iran
“At the direction of President Trump, the Treasury Department is sanctioning key Iranian leaders involved in the brutal crackdown against the Iranian people. Treasury will use every tool to target those behind the regime’s tyrannical oppression of human rights,” said Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant.
These organizations and individuals have been added to the US sanctions list:
- The notorious Fardis Prison, known for the cruel and humiliating treatment of women;
- Senior Iranian officials, including Ali Larijani, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council;
- 18 individuals and legal entities associated with “shadow banking” networks laundering proceeds from the sale of Iranian oil and petrochemical products.
