The Netherlands Public Prosecution Service fines Dieseko Group B.V. for violating sanctions

The Netherlands Public Prosecution Service (NPPS) announced a settlement with Dieseko Group B.V. which had violated international trade sanctions. The company will pay a fine and confiscation amounting to 1.78 million euros.

NPPS found out that Dieseko Group B.V. had sold pile drivers and related components for the construction of the Crimean Bridge throughout the period 2015-2016.

The criminal investigation revealed that Dieseko provided technical assistance for the supplied piling machines and parts used in the construction of the Crimean Bridge during the period from 29 August 2015 to 2 September 2016.

«Dieseko’s records and statements showed that work was carried out by Dieseko mechanics on site, including work to commission the goods delivered, warranty and repair work and providing training to employees of the Russian main contractor,» said NPPS.

This bridge was built by the Russian Federation after the annexation of Crimea in early 2014. The bridge cost ₽227.92 bn (US$3.7 bn) and is 19 km long.

In June 2014, the EU imposed sanctions on Russia following its annexation of the Crimean peninsula and the city of Sebastopol. These sanctions include a ban on the sale of certain goods, the provision of technical assistance, and the provision of services to individuals and businesses in Crimea, or for use within Crimea.
